Last Thursday, I had the pleasure to attend Harley Davidson's "Back to Basics" event, which kicked off the bike show at Javits Center that weekend. Using their basic instincts, Harley Davidson took it back to dark themes, metal fences, and custom styled bikes. The new Forty-Eight bike was revealed that evening at the Ace Hotel along with other similar dark custom bikes. Unlike last years more mod and mixed crowd, this years event was totally the bikers scene. Complimenting the goth style decor and event theme, attendees arrived in their black leather get up, spiked hair, tattooed adorned bodies, ready for a good time. I appreciated the gritty pit stop bar motif (simple basic beer, tequila and whisky cocktails) and anxiously awaited the surprise vampire appearance at any moment . . . too much True Blood episodes I guess.
To top off the evening, Harley Davidson's senior stylist Ray Drea was on hand customizing tanks for our viewing pleasure. Check it out . . .
