Last Thursday, I had the pleasure to attend Harley Davidson's "Back to Basics" event, which kicked off the bike show at Javits Center that weekend. Using their basic instincts, Harley Davidson took it back to dark themes, metal fences, and custom styled bikes. The new Forty-Eight bike was revealed that evening at the Ace Hotel along with other similar dark custom bikes. Unlike last years more mod and mixed crowd, this years event was totally the bikers scene. Complimenting the goth style decor and event theme, attendees arrived in their black leather get up, spiked hair, tattooed adorned bodies, ready for a good time. I appreciated the gritty pit stop bar motif (simple basic beer, tequila and whisky cocktails) and anxiously awaited the surprise vampire appearance at any moment . . . too much True Blood episodes I guess.
To top off the evening, Harley Davidson's senior stylist Ray Drea was on hand customizing tanks for our viewing pleasure. Check it out . . .

First Lady in Living Color
For those who aren't up on the 6 month waiting process to visit the White House and meet The Obama's (which I am in line for), you can settle for the next best thing and meet the couple right here in Times Square.
To help kick off Black History Month next week, Michelle Obama's wax figure (previewed on the Wendy Williams Show yesterday) will be available for all to see starting today at Madame Tussauds in NYC.
It is scary just how real Mrs. Obama looks. . . especially her hair . . . one of the best wax figures I have seen thus far. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.

Is that your B***h?!?!?
Everyone relax, no vulgar posts here. . . this was a great find (thanks Mia) that I couldn't resist. I am all about presentation, so when I saw this bottle of vino, all I could think of was what a great gift! That's right, Bitch Wine, is a red wine that is sold in stores everywhere. Can't tell you first hand how great (or not) it is, although I do hear it is good. More important to me, is the packaging. Let's start with the lady like soft pink label with cursive writing. Also check out the back of the bottle. . .
Notice the back of the bottle, majority of the text is comedic relief of an "unstable creatures" personality trait. I am inclined to taste a sample, and plan to any day now. The local wine shop downtown by my office charges a whopping $14.99, $6 more than what I found online (starting at $8.99). Needless to say, I plan to purchase at bargain price. One way to gift this wine without the risk of a poor wine choice, is just to give two bottles; one for presentation (or comedic relief) and the other for taste. It's a win win with on the wine and gift front.

Celeb's Striking Out Violence
I had the honor of joining forces (on behalf of The Source), with Erica Ford, Russell Simmons, Angie Martinez, and others in Harlem World for a good cause last night Striking Out Violence. Declared official Peace Week by Governor Patterson last Friday, starting 2010, annually every MLK Holiday there will be week-long events calling for action to stop the violence amongst our youth. Peace Week will include rallies, teen summits & parties, bowling fundraisers, and round table discussions. See below photos of celebs that came out to support . . .
That drink Angie is holding, comes with a story only I can tell lol
(so embarrassing, I picked up/drank her original drink by accident, so round 2 was on me!)
Ms. Rocsi bowled in heels. . . .DIVA!

Night Rider
If you know me then you know I am ALWAYS down for a good party, even to host one. . . well here is something new to feast your eyes on and consider for your next soiree. . .
The Midnight Rider is a grandiose limousine that puts the party scene on the map in Southern California and Las Vegas. Complete with three lounges, large screen televisions, a full bar, two bartenders… and yes, a bathroom! Although I personally don't care for the decor, perhaps a few drinks the ancient decor won't event make you blink. Here are some interior shots, you judge for yourself.
At the end of ride. . . the size and options of this party bus compared to most party buses. . . is a winner! Shout out to Charlene for finding this gem.

Transparency at its best ???
As I fingered through the February 2010 issue of Elle, with my girl J Lo on the cover, I stumbled onto the Spring Fashion Accessories page. Front and center were these ADORABLE Christian Loubitin for J. Mendel shoes . . . .
The more I read, it seems lucite was no longer a trend just for furniture (jazzy chairs in particular). For Spring 2010 it is the next best thing. So needless to say, as I perused the mall this past weekend, I didn't hesitate at purchasing my floral lucite cocktail ring :-)
Tonight, as I mingled at my celebrity bowling fund-raising event, I received mucho compliments on this $8 piece of jewelry. Needless to say, it was a win win scenario, thanks Elle for the heads up!
PS . . . please don't let casual transparent jellies come back!

The Man In Room 306
Just in time for the remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for a limited engagement, now through Valentine's Day, you can go see the "Dr. King", played by Craig Alan Edwards, in The Man in Room 306 at 59East59 Theaters. Although some of our parents can say they were fortunate to live through this historic time (and sadly felt the pain of his murder), others have history books, speeches, tapes and now The Man in Room 306; a fictional snapshot of his last night before his murder.
If you aren't in NYC during this run of the show, it is reported to hit other markets according Good Day NY. This one I may just have to make time for.

Bon Apetit!
It's that time of year again. . . time to dine in a "cheap" NY state of mind. NYC Restaurant Week begins Jan. 25-Feb.7th. Not only is it the opportune time to try out the finer restaurants during a real recession; but a perfect time to plan business meetings and dates. I will be sure to update you as I try a few spots on my on . . . reservation for two please!

D.I.Y. - Golden Globes Viewing Party
I love to make an event out of anything. So why not host a Golden Globes viewing party. Whether chic or casual, there is room for creativity, and good times had by all.
To get started be sure to know:
*know the # of guests
*event theme
*specialty cocktail
* menu
*interactive game
Depending on your cup of tea, an upscale cocktail party with an afterparty at the hottest new lounge will give you that glam celeb experience. Depending on your venue and decor, you could have cocktail/formal attire like Ms. J Lo (see above).
*A sample specialty cocktail is the Golden Globe-trotter (Prosecco w/Crown Royal, rim the glass with fresh oj and crystal gold sugar) presented on mirrored tile
*Metallic gold candles (Jamali Garden, Chelsea NYC)
*Glass vases, stencil flowers,
*Food: use your local grocer as a private chef , order a few platters, flip old vases upside down to add height to food display
*Games: why not pick the winners for the top categories. Create two-sided card, with top 5-7 categories with nominees listed, and whoever gets most answers correct gets a gold themed prize (ex. champagne, gold Godiva chocolates)
These ideas can be amended to any awards show year round, so why not do a trial run tonight, and perfect it for future award shows. Let the festivities begin!

Dana Storm

Heavy Eating with a Light Conscience - Dine Out for Haiti
If you are a frequent diner like myself and crave the ambiance and experience, why not do it for a great cause. With the recent tragedy in Haiti, NYC renowned Chef Philippe Massoud of Ilili Restaurant is organizing restaurants to get involved in Haiti relief: restaurants will donate 10% of every bill, an servers have the option so to donate 5% of gratuities to help the victims of Haiti's catastrophic earthquake. Dine Out for Haiti will be Jan. 24-25th.
Some NYC participating restaurants include . . . .

The Wait Is Over
Since Fall 2009, I have been waiting for the (then to be opened Dec. 1) Provocateur Café and Provocateur Nightclub in the Hotel Gansevoort. Well glad to say, at the top of 2010, it is finally here! Discovered on Biz Bash NY , The Walkthrough's section, event gurus can see photos, get detailed specs, and theme inspirations for this long awaited remodeling of Ono Garden at the Hotel Gansevoort. Cocktails anyone ?

Jazz Hands
Every winter there is the search for a jazzy hand accessory, because let's face it how many ways can you wear a glove: (a) leather, (b) suede, (c) tall glove, (d) short glove, (e) fingers out, and for the daring (f) mittens. Well look no further. . . the best I have seen this season Steve Madden G-Stud and yet again, another great find! If you're like me, and wear short sleeves year round, this is your lucky day. Originally $26, they are currently on sale for $14.99. Can I get a virtual knit clap please. . . .

Grammy Weekend on a Budget!
As I am preparing to head West for Grammy Weekend, I was so excited to find a cost effective hotel! Check out the 4 year old Hotel Angeleno . Not only does it seem cute & mod, it is $145 a night compared to the whopping $379 at the more popular The London, Mondrian Hotel and others. Equipped with balcony in each room, restaurant/bar, indoor/outdoor pool, right off the 405, what more can I ask for . . .award weekend on a budget. As they say one persons trash, is another persons treasure - this is a former Holiday Inn! Stay tuned for an update on my experience. . .

Welcome
Hello virtual world. . . finally I am utilizing an outlet to share, most importantly expose my Bubble, and all it has to offer. You all should know, the Bubble has been in existence since I was a teen, although I myself didn't acknowledge its power or embrace it until my early twenties. Through my journey's very few have fought the existence and power of the Bubble, but many have commented. I believe everyone has a hidden bubble that they don't empower. . . .but hey that's better for us that do-too many bubbles just don't make for a happy place :-) I wish to use this blog to share my thoughts and experiences; treats and secret finds; to inform, engage, and inspire as I experience and expand in knowledge, culture and society. So please do come for the ride, I promise it will be an unforgettable one. . . good times had by all!
